Musixmatch is an alternative music app for the iPhone, but its main claim to fame is showing you the lyrics to songs your listening to right in a Notification Center widget. What Sucks: Lacks a built in editor, which means you have to import the shot before doing anything.īuy it?: If you’re looking for a way to organize screenshots, check out Tiny. What’s Good: Makes it easy to name screenshots in a logical way, auto opens Quick Look. Though, Quick Look easily allows you to copy and paste those screen shots. Tiny, however, makes it easier to just get a screenshot and give it a memorable filename. Skitch makes cropping and labeling easy for a casual user, and it’s free. If you’re looking for quick editing tools, you may want to use something like Skitch, but I always end up tossing my screenshots into Pixelmator to make the composites for these reviews. Tiny is for someone who is going to end up editing their screenshots elsewhere. (Something I’d like to do when shooting apps, but not so much for games.) Tiny is a menu bar utility that lets you create a naming scheme for your screenshots, as well as set Quick Look to open each time you take a screen shot. However, it is hard to keep them organized when you get generic file names that are just Screenshot-Date-Time. You can choose from either taking a shot of the entire screen, or just a selection. OS X has a really nice screenshot system. You can subscribe for $9.99 a month or $99 a year. What Sucks: Powerpoint still of questionable utility.īuy it?: If you’re doing a lot of business with Windows users, or just want a free office suite with your cloud storage, check out Office 2016. What’s Good: Outlook is still better than Mail.app, better Windows compatibility for Excel. So basically it’s ten bucks a month for cloud storage with a free Office suite Also when you get an Office 365 subscription, you get 1 TB of One Drive storage. I do wonder when VB will be finally be retired from Excel macros. The Macro support in Excel is much better, though it still isn’t 100% compatible with Macros from the Windows side. The updated look to Office joins a lot of under the hood changes. Powerpoint is still pretty useless to a Mac user with free Keynote. There are some odd oversights: Outlook still doesn’t have a full screen mode. I also use Excel about once a week, check out that earlier review for a breakdown of the changes app by app. Not a lot has changed since the initial beta release, but my daily Office use tends to be limited to Outlook. I am not going to dig too far into Office 2016, since I did a complete run down of the updated suite back when it was released in beta.
